Public Address System

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define when the Upjohn Library Commons public address system should be used. This regulates acceptable use and ensures that disruptive noise and arbitrary use of the public address system are avoided.

Policy

Only Information Services staff or Campus Safety staff may use the public address system.

The Upjohn Library Commons public address system is used only to announce building closing times or to make service announcements, such as weather related warnings, which involve everyone in the building.

There is no paging of patrons, announcement of programs, or other incidental uses of this system. When a person asks an Information Services staff member to use the public address system for emergency paging, the individual should be referred to Campus Safety (extension 7321).
