Masks and Distancing
Masks are required in the Library building.
Please remember to socially distance while you are in the Library building, especially on stairways, the elevator, and in seating areas. Six foot distances are marked at service points like the Circulation Desk.

Food and Drink
Please enjoy food and drink in the Book Club Café area or outside. Food and drink are not allowed in other parts of the Upjohn Library Commons building.
Fall Quarter 2021 Hours
Monday – Thursday: 8am – 10pm
Friday: 8am – 5pm
Saturday: Noon – 5pm
Sunday: Noon – 10pm
You may bring books to the circulation desk for checkout, or request Kalamazoo College Library items through Library OneSearch. If you request Kalamazoo College Library items through OnsSearch:
- We will retrieve the books for you, and you will get an email when your materials are ready.
- All holds can be picked up at the circulation desk. Please have your K ID with you to check items out.
- Please wear a face mask when picking up items to keep Information Services staff safe.
If you have a concern about your requests or need assistance placing a hold, please email email@example.com.
MeLCat and ILL
MeLCat and ILL is available for faculty, staff, and students. You will receive an email when your materials are ready. Please follow the instructions above for pick up.
You may use the MeLCat Visiting Patron service at other MeLCat libraries utilizing the service. Kalamazoo College students, faculty, and staff may borrow materials in person from other MeLCat Visiting Patron participating libraries.
Please return items (including MeLCat and ILL) in the Book Drop inside the building at the Circulation Desk or the Book Drop outside on Academy Street.
Print reserves are available during Fall 2021. Your instructor may also have materials for your course on Moodle, Teams, or another platform.
Study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. However, classrooms are not available for checkout for study on evenings and weekends during Fall 2021. There is seating for study and at computers throughout the first, second, and third floors. Seating is first come, first served.
- Do not move furniture
- Stay six feet apart
- Wear your mask correctly at all times
- No eating or drinking
- Wipe down your study area when you leave with the cleaning wipes provided
Archives and Rare Book Room
Hours for the Archives and Rare Book Room are on their websites. You can also make an appointment to use materials in person in the Archives or Rare Book Room, or we can answer your questions via email or Teams. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
Other services in the building (Writing Center, ESL Help, Center for New Media Design, Media Services, Help Desk, etc.) have other hours and service changes. Please check their websites for details.
